The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) delivered a Health Field Day, funded by a $9,500 grant from the Aussie Farmers Foundation. RFDS runs 20 Health Field Days each year to improve health outcomes for people living in some of Queensland’s most vulnerable rural and remote communities. The Aussie Farmers Foundation funded Health Field Day was at Dalgonally Cattle Station in North West Queensland. In August 2015, a Nurse, Medical Officer, Health Promotion Officer, Mental Health Professional and the Pilot flew into Dalgonally Station to promote the health and wellbeing of people living in local communities.

The team covered the following topics with the station workers and families:

  • Mental health tactics and coping mechanisms
  • Safe and supportive environments for children
  • Managing medical emergencies
  • Diet and healthy eating
