We’re helping to deliver rural food relief in NSW and Queensland communities impacted by drought with a $15,000 grant towards Foodbank’s drought relief drive – thanks to the support of our generous donors.
The $15,000 grant is under our Meals for Mates partnership with Foodbank – Australia’s largest food relief organisation – to support rural and regional communities experiencing food insecurity.
More than 40% of all food and grocery items distributed nationally by Foodbank annually go to rural and regional communities, as 29% of Australians experiencing food insecurity live in these regions.
With 100% of NSW now drought declared and almost 60% of Queensland still experiencing drought after many years, Foodbank is receiving a growing number of requests from communities across the state who have been significantly affected and are in urgent need of assistance.
Donations to the Aussie Farmers Foundation in the past two months have helped to fund the grant which will go towards hampers of household staples and personal items to be packed and distributed in September 2018.
